Different types of sandals can be used in one social situation or another; choose the right model and you can forget the summer heat. You can wear sandals for almost any occasion, even the office. Some leather sandals, for example, are perfectly suitable for wearing to work. While not elegant per se, they are perfectly satisfactory for a smart-casual effect.

Although, at first, wearing sandals may feel a bit unusual to some men, as soon as they see how flattering they are, in both formal and informal settings, they become fans of sandals because of their comfort and versatility.  Because sandals can also be synonymous with quality and style.

Types of Men's Sandal

The two most basic types of sandals are:

- Open sandals: With this type of sandal, our foot is completely exposed, making them cooler. They usually have thin straps in different positions that help to secure the foot. This type of open footwear is ideal with shorts, as we will see later.

- Closed sandals: Unlike the previous type, these models usually cover the foot a little more, but still allow for ventilation and keeping your feet cool. They usually have a fastener so that you can adjust them to your foot, mitigating the risk of tripping or the sandals slipping off while you are walking. One of their main features is that they have crossed straps or just one strip of leather that covers the front of the foot.

History of Men's Sandals

Although there are many men who are still reluctant to wear sandals, this is the oldest footwear in the world. Its origins can be traced back to the earliest Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. They were used for practically everything, so we can find sandals depicted in many sculptures and paintings that have survived from those times.

Many men have considered sandals un-masculine and difficult to combine. This could not be farther from the truth. We can confirm they are back and here to stay, thanks to the wide variety of models available and the comfort they provide. Indeed, given the importance of comfort, they are currently one of the best footwear options for both men and women.
